Modern Family's Sarah Hyland gets restraining order against ex-boyfriend
Modern Family star Sarah Hyland has filed a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend.
Her lawyer confirmed to Us Weekly that on Friday (Sept 19), Hyland "obtained a Domestic Violence Temporary Restraining Order against Matthew Prokop" and that the "documents filed speak for themselves".
The 23-year-old actress, who plays Haley Dunphy in the comedy TV series, was granted the order.

TMZ reported that Hyland claimed Prokop, whom she dated for five years until splitting in August, "choked her" and was abusive throughout their relationship.
The site said that it had obtained the legal documents that details the abuse.
In the documents Hyland alleged that Prokop, in May, pinned her against a car, during an argument about her outfit, verbally abused her, called her names and choked her.
She also reportedly said that "his grip was so tight that I could not breathe or speak ... I was scared and in fear for my life."

But that wasn't all she reported.
Hyland knew that she was in an abusive relationship and wanted to ended it.

Hyland then contacted her on-screen mother Julie Bowen. She asked Bowen to come over to her home to help "peacefully end the relationship".
When Bowen arrived at her home, Prokop reportedly "ran outside into the backyard and began screaming" and threw a lighter at Hyland, threatening to burn her house down, TMZ wrote.
It added that after calling off the relationship, Hyland reported that Prokop "relentlessly bombarded (her) with vile, threatening and emotionally disturbing texts and voicemails including his own suicide threats".
Talk about drama.
