BLUE IS THE WARMEST COLOR (R21)
This coming-of-age French drama about a teenage girl struggling with her sexual identity was wrought with controversy when it was released last year.
The subject matter of the film was enough to cause alarm bells to ring among the conservative.
Then there were the many, many bitter exchanges between director Abdellatif Kechiche and his two leading ladies Lea Seydoux and Adele Exarchopoulos.
Despite all the negative buzz, the movie received the prestigious Palme d'Or award at last year's Cannes Film Festival.
You can understand why it won. While it could do with tighter editing, the actresses put in incredible performances, particularly French-Greek newbie Exarchopoulos.
She delivers such real and powerful emotions that you can't help but sympathise with her character's situation.
