China bans Deadpool film

Deadpool has just lost its box-office revenue from the world's second-largest movie market.

The superhero movie, which in the US is rated R (those under 17 require an accompanying parent or adult guardian), has been banned by China's censors due to violence, nudity and graphic language - things Deadpool fans cannot wait to see on the big screen.

Ryan Reynolds plays the titular character (aka Wade Wilson) who is subjected to a rogue experiment in an effort to cure his cancer.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, edits to the film will cause problems with the plot, so it simply cannot be done without changing the story.

Deadpool, which opens here on Feb 11, is unrated here, but you can be certain it will receive a high rating.
