Megan Fox: I won't show my sons Transformers films
She turns heads wherever she goes. And Megan Fox admitted to M that she "loves being around boys".
But before you think the 28-year-old actress is playing up the man-eater stereotype, "the boys" she means are her husband, Brian Austin Green, and two sons, Noah Shannon and Bodhi Ransom.
Fox gave birth to Bodhi in Februaryand told M that she's enjoying her status in the family.
"I do love being around boys. I love being the centre of attention in my family, because I am the matriarch. I am the queen bee," she proclaimed.
"I've all these boys who are going to take care of me and look out for me."
Fox was speaking at a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) press event at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills on Saturday.
In the movie (which opens here tomorrow), the candid star plays journalist April O'Neil, a friend of the reptilian ninjas.
It is also a reunion of Fox and the man who helped catapult her to fame, Michael Bay.
Bay cast Fox as the eye-candy love-interest for Shia LaBeouf in the first two Transformers films (Fox has even told E! News that LaBeouf was her best onscreen kiss).
But after she publicly compared Bay to Napoleon and Hitler, she was - not surprisingly - bumped from the third in the robot romp franchise.
However, the pair have since buried the hatchet. Fox is even singing praises of Bay, who is the producer of TMNT.
"I had a really good experience this time round, we were really good friends on this movie," she said.
"I like Michael. We have a special interesting relationship now.
"He was instrumental in casting me in this movie, and he was on my team."
On being cast in the film based on the 1980s comic book, Fox - who looked stunning in a tight-fitting long-sleeved dress - said: "I was so happy that I danced.
"I was so excited to be in this movie because I was a superfan when I was a kid," she said with a hint of giddiness.
FAVOURITE
As if to prove her Turtle-cred, Fox said: "I got to play someone iconic but more so, I got to be on screen next to Mikey (Michelangelo), who's always my favourite."
However, the news of her casting did not sit well with some fans of the original comic book series. The Internet erupted, with some claiming Fox's sexy image unsuitable for the smart O'Neil.
Never one to mince her words, an unfazed Fox reacted to all the controversies by telling her TMNT haters: "**** off."
She told M in a separate interview: "I don't get affected by these comments. Honestly, the online community is very small, even though they have a loud voice.
"That's made obvious by how vocal they are about not liking movies, which end up making billions of dollars."
During the interview, Fox appeared confident.
She added: "What I do is meant to be judged. I give a performance and it's the audience's job to decide if they like it or not. If someone doesn't like it, that's perfectly fine."
Working in highly-scrutinised Hollywood is not easy, as Fox has come to learn. She laments the lack of female friendship in Tinseltown.
"This town is not the town to make girlfriends in. It's so competitive, and actresses can be frightening.
"They are not stupid girls. They are all incredibly manipulative. I'm very wary of that."
But Fox's concentration is on her family. Indeed, while shooting TMNT, she was pregnant with Bodhi.
The actress almost blacked out from overheating while filming during the hot summer in New York City last year.
She was also constantly tired and nauseous.
"Babies are little vampires that take everything from you," she laughed.
"I had zero energy all the time. But I still did a lot of the stunt sequences because it always looks good when you can shoot the actress' face and body in one shot."
With no new films in the pipeline, Fox is set to concentrate on motherhood. She and Green sold their Los Angeles home for US$3.75 million (S$4.66 million) last week, and are set to move the family into a slightly cheaper (US$3.35 million) but bigger 6,710 sq ft spread.
Fox is keen to show her sons her movies when they are older.
She said: "That's my goal, for my kids to say: '****, my mum, thumbs up.'"
"They are still babies now. But I'm hesitant on Transformers because of all the oily body shots. As boys, they might not want to see their mother that way."
Teen titans
The Ninja Turtles aren't the only teen crime fighters. Here are some of their human counterparts, in descending order from most stupendously awesome to plain ol' awesome.
1 Spider-Man (Tobey Maguire) in Spider-Man 2 (2004)
2 Hit-Girl (Chloe Grace Moretz) in Kick-Ass 2 (2013)
3 Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) in X-Men: First Class (2011)
4 Kick-Ass (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) in Kick-Ass (2010)
5 Will Stronghold (Michael Angarano) in Sky High (2005)
6 Rogue (Anna Paquin) in X-Men (2000)
7 Lavagirl (Taylor Dooley) in The Adventures Of Sharkboy And Lavagirl In 3D (2005)
The M Match-up
Turtles Fox v Transformers Fox
Megan Fox just loves being in movies where she gets to act against a CGI character. But does she hit it off better with Raphael or Optimus Prime? Is she better as a Turtle lady or a Transformers gal?
CHARACTER POWER
It is rare to see Fox playing a career woman, but in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, she stars as journalist April O'Neil. She is assigned to puff up pieces but stumbles upon the mysterious Turtles doing their crime-fighting thing and decides to get the scoop. She ends up helping them defeat the Foot Clan.
Mikaela Banes was the role that made Fox a star, but it was not much of a role. Mikaela is just a hot student whose hotness is her main thing. Whether leaning over a car engine, running away from robots in slow motion or just staring into space, Fox performed admirably.
ROUND ONE: TURTLE FOX
April is pretty cool.
FAME POWER
These days, Fox seems to be focusing on her marriage to Brian Austin Green, and taking care of her kids Noah Shannon and Bodhi Ransom. She does not appear in many movies, and you rarely see her in the tabloids. I bet there are some teenage boys out there who do not even know what she looks like in a bikini - which is sad.
With the release of the first Transformers movie in 2007, Fox achieved instant fame. Suddenly, she was on the cover of every magazine and her name became synonymous with sex appeal. Unfortunately, her Transformers notoriety started to wane after the disappointment of Jennifer's Body in 2009, and Turtles is her biggest project since then.
ROUND TWO: TRANSFORMERS FOX
Her robot days are halcyonic.
MOUTH POWER
Fox is known for one thing aside from her beauty - her mouth. Motherhood seems to have mellowed her, but she continues to speak her mind. During a recent press conference, she said of Turtle haters: "Those people can complain - they all go to the theatre. They're going to love it, and if they don't love it, they can **** off, and that's the end of that."
Fox's mouth led to her feud with director Michael Bay, which ended with her dismissed from the Transformers franchise. She opened a can of worms when she told UK magazine Wonderland: "He's like Napoleon and he wants to create this insane, infamous madman reputation. He wants to be like Hitler on his sets, and he is... He has no social skills at all."
ROUND THREE: DRAW
This girl never knows when to shut up, and thankfully never will.
AND THE WINNER IS... BOTH FOXES
Transformers Fox was young and beautiful. Turtles Fox is less young but perhaps more beautiful. - Jason Johnson
