For much of its running time, Third Person comes across as a high-end soap opera.

But do not dismiss it. You will be rewarded.

We keep cutting back and forth amongst three different melodramatic stories, and it's only later that we realise that there's something deeper going on.

Liam Neeson stars as a gruff old writer who's taken a sweet young thing played by Olivia Wilde under his wing.

Adrien Brody plays a shady businessman who tries to help an exotic beauty (Moran Atias) buy her daughter back from a thug.

Mila Kunis is a maid who's trying to regain visitation rights with her son after being accused of abusing him.

Elegantly written and filmed, this is a classy project that rewards patience.
