"It started when my boyfriend bought me a camera for my 20th birthday.
"I started taking more photos and I needed a space to upload them all, so I made a blog. It eventually became my digital journal where I get to keep and also share my life and work with people."
When the 21-year-old became more active on Instagram, she also attracted more eyeballs.
"People started liking my photos, which served as a form of motivation and inspiration," she said adding that her online activities have brought her family closer.
"My family isn't very expressive with their feelings so they don't talk to me much about my life or try to find out what I'm doing or where I'm going. Despite that, they are very supportive.
"My sister tells me they would occasionally read my blog and see what I've been up to.
"Although they don't tell me directly, it's still a very encouraging notion that they are interested and it keeps me going," she said.
The New Paper New Face is in its 22nd year.
The modelling competition has launched the careers of celebrities such as actress Jayley Woo, social media star Eunice Annabel Lim and top model Vivien Ong.
