New Face 2014: Jasmine

Jasmine Sim, 21, goes to parks often when she has the time.

"I sometimes have picnics," she said.

Her favourite park? "Punggol Waterway Park. It's near my place and quiet during off-peak hours. I don't like it when I'm stuck in crowds."

Reading is another pastime.

One book that left a deep impression on her was The Time Keeper by Mitch Albom.

"It just made a lot of sense to me. It talks about how people think about time too much and are afraid of losing it, but don't treasure it," she said.

"It's not so much what I am reading but what reading does for me - it makes me feel like I'm in my own world."

Jasmine is also passionate about cheerleading.

She took this up in 2010 when she was in junior college, but stopped after a hand injury last year.

"I like the thrill of being thrown in the air and the feeling I get when I finally pull off a stunt," she said.

On Oct 2, one young woman will be named The New Paper New Face 2014. She will win $10,000 cash and a feature in Her World magazine.
