Peter Dinklage: "This is all my real hair and my real moustache"
Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage boasts a completely different look in his new role.
As military scientist Bolivar Trask in X-Men: Days of Future Past, he wears a very retro 70s helmet hairdo, and a bushy moustache - "all real", according to Dinklage himself.
Here's more from the actor, from our interview with him during the cast's stopover in Singapore last week.
On going from one fan favourite to another:
"I’m kicking myself. It’s a thrill. I hope they complement each other. Bryan Singer was a fan of (Game Of Thrones) so maybe that had something to do with him asking me to join the X-Men team."
His favourite superhero
"I love Superman. Comics were written relevant during their time. I feel like Bryan’s first X-Men movie really delivered what comic-book fans really want. They get darker and more realistic at each turn, and comic books are always doing that."
On getting his groovy 70s look
"The 70s were a very specific time in terms of style and facial hair. There’s a fine line between portraying realistically at that time period as to playing it nostalgically comedic like Ron Burgurdy (of Anchorman). Big hair, moustaches were very popular those days, at least in the US. I definitely had a say to my look. It was all my real hair and my own real moustache. I probably burnt a hole in the ozone layer from the amount of hair spray I used."
His favourite mutant power
"Don’t we all feel like mutants especially when we wake up in the mornings? I wish I have the mutant ability to wake up early. I love to be able to fly like Magneto and Storm."
On working with Jennifer Lawrence
"She’s great. She’s got her *bleep* -- I meant shit -- together at a young age. There’s a great reason why she’s successful. She’s very hardworking, and she has great taste. She’s incredible with the fans now that she’s in a couple of franchises now. She has grace. I wouldn’t be able to handle it at her age. I got recognition late in my career. I don’t know if it’d be healthy for me if I found success at her age."
Is Hugh Jackman bored of playing Wolverine? Look out for the interview tomorrow.
