Phantom of the Opera to get TV adaptation
Classic tale Phantom of the Opera will be given a modern twist for an upcoming TV adaptation, reports Entertainment Weekly.
US television network ABC said it will work with Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry on the show.
They also said that while the show will not be based on the popular Broadway version by Andrew Lloyd Webber, it will still feature musical elements.
Both Webber's musical and several movie adaptations have been based on the original 1909 French novel Le Fantôme de l’Opéra by Gaston Leroux, in which a ghost in an opera house helps a budding singer before jealousy consumes him.
