WATCH: Joanne Peh sketches herself for National Gallery Singapore's Portaits of the People

To commemorate Singapore's 50th anniversary next year, National Gallery Singapore (NGS) started the Portraits of the People campaign, a traveling community engagement programme where Singaporeans get to sketch their own self-portraits.

At the latest Portraits of the People event held at Velocity on November 25, actress Joanne Peh had a hand at sketching her self-portrait. She will be among some of the more familiar self-portraits to be featured on the Art Connector, a permanent structure that will feature self-portraits of Singaporeans from all walks of life.

"Portraits of the People reminds us that collectively as a community, we have a commitment to continue building on the success of our country.

"In our own way, each of us has played a part in making Singapore what it is today," she said.

Peh, 31, said she's dabbled with art before, but is hoping to author children's books in the future.

"It has always been my wish to do a children's book and am looking for a children's book illustrator to work with me. Through this project, I hope that we can discover new talent, or an artist who's looking for an avenue to showcase his or her own work."

Speaking of children ... is there a baby on the horizon for the star, who recently wed fellow actor Qi Yuwu in September?

Said Peh: "It's always in the pipeline, so we'll see."
