Do more for fire safety in point blocks

Lately, there has been considerable emphasis on fires in HDB houses

Years ago, I lived in a point-block flat in Ghim Moh and found it disturbing that there was just one staircase for the entire building

When I spoke to HDB, the reply was, 'fires rarely happen'

Since I was moving out, I did not pursue the matter

The house I now live at is an old HUDC building

It is also a point-block - but with 2 staircases

There are still quite a lot of point-block flats in Singapore, from Holland Village to Bukit Merah

Will the HDB and SCDF do anything to make these 5-room flats safer?
