Bound, robbed and mocked

Netizens make fun of Kim Kardashian after she is held at gunpoint in Paris

Reality TV star Kim Kardashian has been attacked and mocked by netizens after she was robbed at gunpoint in a private residence in Paris, France.

Masked men disguised as police officers put a gun to her temple, left her tied up in a bathroom and stole millions of dollars worth of jewellery in the early hours yesterday, police and her publicist said.

While many expressed sympathy, others claimed she deserved what happened as they mocked the 35-year-old on Twitter.

@meggyboox tweeted: "Makes me sad how Kim Kardashian being 'nearly shot' is breaking news when theres so many other world problems."

@Steve_Allen92 added: "Kim Kardashian robbed at gunpoint in Paris... Finally some good news on a Monday."

Even her bodyguard Pascal Duvier, who has looked after her for years, was not spared.

Fans tweeted him, asking: "Where were you?"

Another added: "I think @PascalDuvier may have a lil explaining to do to Kim..."

Mr Duvier, however, was out with Kardashian's sisters Kourtney and Kendall Jenner at the time, reported the Daily Mail.

Others spoke up to defend her.

@holyfIacko tweeted: "Kim Kardashian is a mother and wife. Two young kids could have lost their mother today and there are people making fun of that? Disgusting."

Kardashian's friend, US model Chrissy Teigen, also took to Twitter.

"No one is begging you for sympathy. I know the game plan is to naturally hate celebrities," she tweeted, after a Twitter user asked her if people should feel sorry for the affluent Kardashian.

She later added: "Please do not think that I think celebrities are special snowflakes. I just miss empathy, in general, for everyone."

Kardashian, who is married to rapper Kanye West and was attending the Paris Fashion Week, later left France via a private jet from Le Bourget airport after having spoken to investigators.

Five attackers, wearing ski masks and clothes with police markings, struck around 3am, a police source told Reuters. Two of the men entered her apartment after threatening the night guard with a hand gun.

Kardashian was discovered "badly shaken but physically unharmed", according to her publicist.

As news of the event spread, West abruptly ended a performance in New York less than an hour into his set.

A source said the attackers fled on bicycles.

West stops show after robbery

US rapper Kanye West abruptly ended a performance in New York less than an hour into his set to attend to Kim Kardashian's emergency.

The 39-year-old looked distraught as he rushed off stage after learning about his wife's ordeal in a luxury private residence in Paris.

He was performing at the Meadows Music and Arts Festival in Queens, New York, when an aide rushed out on stage to deliver the news.

"I'm sorry I have a family emergency, I have to stop the show," West told the audience in videos posted by fans at the festival, Reuters reported.

The crowd was stunned.

He reportedly cut his set 20 minutes early despite showing up 30 minutes late.

Promoter of the festival, Founders Entertainment, released a statement about the incident, saying "their thoughts were with West and his family."
