IT MAY have taken them over half of their decade-long career, but Canadian indie rockers Metric are now officially a big deal.
Ironically, getting into the big league took breaking away from indie record labels and setting up their own.
Their fourth album, Fantasies, released in 2009 on their own label, Metric Music International, gave them their first two radio hits Help, I’m Alive and Gold Guns Girls. It also led to a bagful of Juno Awards (the Canadian Grammys) and high-profile movie collaborations.
The band plays their first gig here next Tuesday.
