If you're just having light snacks and drinks, you should try their pork scratchings ($6) and crispy corn kernels ($5) with curry leaves. I have never been a fan of corn, but wow, these are absolutely addictive. Both go really well with beer.

I love xiao long bao and Paradise Dynasty has eight signature xiao long bao flavours: original, garlic, ginseng, foie gras, black truffle, cheese, crab roe and Szechuan. My personal favourites are the black truffle and the foie gras. The original starts from $9.80 for a basket of 10, while the exotic premium ones are $19.80 for a basket of 10.

The sous-vide salmon with soba salad and grilled asparagus ($18) is a healthy yet flavourful meal that has all my favourites on one plate. Love the ponzu peppercorn sauce too.

The Pumpkin & Prawn Risotto ($24) came with a generous serving of perfectly cooked, plump tiger prawns. The sweetness of the pumpkin set against the sharpness of the grana padano shavings was a nice contrast, and the sprinkling of arugula balanced everything out.

This is a true gem at Simpang Bedok as it takes you back 30 years, with its alley seating. Best pratas ($1.50) in Singapore with fish curry and secret sambal!

The freshest seafood I've tasted here, especially on Tuesdays and Fridays, when it arrives from Tokyo. The ocean mania ($88), a platter for two, is well worth it. Also try the flying fish sashimi.

I love the Hokkaido don ($28), with its fresh, thick salmon slices, scallop, salmon roe, prawn and sea urchin combo.
