“Doesn’t my chendol look like the Batu Caves? It was the best $2 spent in a long while. The coconut milk was more like coconut cream and the gula melaka was sinfully thick and overloaded. My calorie budget for the year is gone.”

"This popular, authentic Sichuan restaurant's signature dish is the Si Wei Langzi Catfish ($29). I found it too boney, so I had it changed to snakehead fish fillets instead. It really soaked up the spicy, tongue-numbing sauce in every bite. The Ma Po Tofu ($14) and Chilli Chicken ($12) were excellent as well. Add a side of greens ($9), and it'd be a meal enough for yourself and three friends. This is my favourite place to go for my mala fix."

"Just look at this bowl of goodness. So much variety, and it's the best-tasting one by far. It's still my favourite place to go for chirashi don ($28)."

"For Paul's Eggs Benedict ($14.80), you can have your eggs poached, fried or covered in the Amazon Forest like mine."

"Stir-fried over very high heat with light and dark soy sauce, whole prawns, cockles, bean sprouts, eggs, slices of Chinese sausage, fishcake and chopped chives, topped with crisp croutons of pork lard and the best belachan in Toa Payoh, this fried kway teow ($3) is sinful but worth it. Be warned, there's always a queue as it's a dish people will come from all over Singapore for."
Zheng Xing Fried Kway Teow Mee

"You've got a sour mango, what do you do? Pour some sugar on it and let it caramelise! Paired with delicious coconut ice cream and a so-odd-it-works basil sauce, this Ma Muang Khara Mel dessert ($7.90) is even more affordable than a budget flight to Bangkok."

"PS.Cafe's Big Breakfast ($25) is awesome because you can taste the quality ingredients, and the sausages are not too salty."
