The MMatch-Up vs Ian McKellen Patrick Stewart
English thespians Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart are two of the coolest old guys in the world. The pair are not only co-stars in the X-Men movies, they're also real-life friends who like to take selfies with each other and stuff.
But let's imagine for a moment that they weren't pals but instead blood rivals. Who would come out tops?
As Magneto, McKellen has the power to control magnetic forces, which means that he can stop bullets, bend iron bars, toss around cars, uproot bridges and destroy buildings. He can also create force fields and levitate. In addition, Magneto is evil and his helmet is weird.
Stewart plays the wheelchair-bound Professor X, who possesses telepathic powers. Not only can he read everyone's thoughts, he can use his own thoughts to totally mess with their minds! Professor X is also a skilled educator and a pretty nice guy.
ROUND ONE: IT'S A DRAW
How do I choose between magnetism and telepathy? Both are wicked.
Our friend here also stars as wizard supreme Gandalf in The Lord Of The Rings and The Hobbit movies! There's probably no better role out there for a really, really old fella. He gets to wear a cool hat, ride horses and hang with elf babes.
He also plays the wise and bald Jean-Luc Picard in the Star Trek: The Next Generation franchise. While it isn't so big these days, it was HUGE in the '80s and '90s, with a TV show, films and other stuff.
ROUND TWO: IT'S A DRAW
Gandalf and Picard are equally lovable.
Despite the fact that he's a withered old man, McKellen radiates youthful exuberance. His blue eyes sparkle with mirth, his hair is still relatively lush and he dresses beautifully. He's unfailingly charming in interviews and his Instagram account shows he's super fun.
Stewart is more than twice as old as his new bride and third wife Sunny Ozell , who's 35! But unlike most couples with such an age difference, you know in this case that she's not just using him for his money. Also, he's been single-handedly making baldness look beautiful for decades.
ROUND THREE: IT'S A DRAW
It's like comparing Kate Upton with Miranda Kerr. I'll have both please!
THE WINNER: MCKELLEN AND STEWART
How do you choose between these two extraordinary performers? They make being old seem not horrifying. - Jason Johnson
