Local drama Unlucky Plaza follows the life of Filipino Onassis Hernandez (Epy Quizon), who struggles to make a living in Singapore while single-handedly raising his son.

Out of desperation, he takes a group of Singaporeans hostage in a bungalow and uploads the act online to gain publicity.

The clip attracts international attention and culminates in a dramatic ending.

Local director Ken Kwek tackles the delicate issues and difficulties immigrants face in Singapore in an interesting manner.

Cast members Judee Tan, Adrian Pang and Shane Mardjuki are naturals, playing their roles convincingly.

However, Unlucky Plaza, which runs over two hours, could've benefited from tighter editing and a faster pace, as it gets draggy, especially towards the end.
