Unbelievable! Chen Tianwen's hit song now becoming a movie

We're so stunned like vegetable!

First, cheesy love song Unbelievable became a global viral hit, with overseas websites picking up the song.

Now, the hit song has its own movie!

Yes, it's no longer Un-un-un-un-unbelievable.

Fronted by Chen Tianwen, naturally, the film is called Mr Unbelievable and will revolve around the titular underdog who "never loses his integrity and belief in his brand of music", said Clover Films, who will be producing the comedy with mm2 Entertainment

The S$1 million-budget production will be helmed by Ong Kuo Sin, the composer of the hit ditty. Filming will commence next month for a December 2015 release.

Getai veteran Liu Ling Ling will play our hero's love interest, while Tosh Zhang will play Mr Unbelievable's disciple. Marcus Chin stars as Chen's music coach.

Chen, 52, revealed at a recent getai performance where he performed his hit song that new songs have been written for him, reported Lianhe Wanbao.

While there are plans for a possible music album, the veteran local actor explained to the evening daily that "everything is still in the early stages of planning".

Unbelievable became an overnight sensation when the music video -- featuring a retro-looking Chen as Ah Beng Eric Kwek singing to a broccoli -- was uploaded on MediaCorp Channel 5’s Facebook page on April 13 as part of promotional material for Channel 5 comedy series Spouse For House 2.

To date, the song has hit 4 million views on YouTube and Facebook, and spawned countless parodies and covers.

The phenomenon was even reported on Taiwanese and New Zealand news, and the song was even played on American and Australian radio stations.
