Movie Review: INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 3 (PG13)
There is only one reason why Insidious: Chapter 3 was made - to give severely underrated working actress Lin Shaye her moment to shine.
Without a doubt, the 71-year-old Hollywood veteran, who stole the show in the first two Insidious movies, is the star of this instalment.
Her character Elise Rainier, a stoic, gifted psychic, is put at the centre of the action as we follow how she uses her spirit-wrangling abilities to aid hapless teenager Quinn Brenner (Stefanie Scott) after the latter is targeted by a mysterious demon.
Both Shaye and Scott are excellent in their roles, but unfortunately, the movie falls flat when it comes to delivering the scares.
Save for a few "boo" moments, it is hardly unnerving. I yawned midway through the film.
For a horror flick, that's not a good thing at all.
