Movie Review: Maggie (PG13)
Who would have thought that Arnold Schwarzenegger would have such a tender side?
The Terminator plays a tortured father who has to live with the fact that his young daughter, Maggie (the ever reliable Abigail Breslin), is slowly dying.
His is a world where an outbreak of a deadly disease turns people into zombies.
Forget World War Z-type infections where people are changed instantaneously. Here, the transformation is at a snail's speed.
So what can a helpless father do, facing the inevitable truth that his child will one day become a savage? That is Arnie's struggle, and he delivers it quite well, surprisingly.
It's a nice change to see him wading into deep dramatic waters, before he returns to familiar ground in the upcoming Terminator Genisys.
You just need to put up with his Austrian accent and the sluggish pace.
