Movie Review: The Man From U.N.C.L.E.
Guy Ritchie should moonlight as a fashion stylist.
His actors look like they stepped out of the pages of Vogue magazine.
If only Ritchie had paid more attention to the story, as this spy caper has little substance.
Set against the height of the Cold War, the plot follows US spy Solo (Henry Cavill) who is forced to work with Russian agent Illya (Armie Hammer) to stop villain Victoria (Elizabeth Debicki) from getting her hands on nuclear weapons. Helping them is the feisty Gaby (Alicia Vikander).
The action, true to Ritchie's roots, is slick and the dialogue snappy.
While Cavill is quite a natural at comedy, it's Hammer who nails his performance, particularly in his moments with Vikander.
Rating 3/5
