Movie Review: The Visit (PG13)
I am a total chicken when it comes to scary movies.
That said, the scares in The Visit are quite sporadic and feel manufactured sometimes, but they are still creepy enough to make me jump.
Unfortunately, M. Night Shyamalan's latest offering - about a pair of young siblings Becca (Olivia DeJonge) and Tyler (Ed Oxenbould) visiting their estranged grandparents (Deanna Dunagan and Peter McRobbie) for the first time - isn't a return to his glory days of The Sixth Sense and Signs.
But this "found footage" thriller is an improvement on his last few projects. At least the story is relatable and not too crazy and he's aided by a strong cast.
If only he'd stop resorting to his infamous twist endings as that proves to be The Visit's downfall.
