Singapore's hit locations

Check out the key locations of Hitman: Agent 47 and win a 2D1N staycation

Finally, a film has realised that Singapore can provide some pretty awesome backdrops for movies.

Sure we've had the occasional mention – Batman Begins, King Kong, two Pirates Of The Caribbean films and The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

But these are just mentions.

Hitman: Agent 47 stars Rupert Friend, Hannah Ware and Zachary Quinto. More importantly, it also stars a few familiar landmarks, seen in ways you will not have seen them before.

Robinson Road

This location was closed for two and a half days across a weekend. This meant specially controlled traffic lights and several bus routes being diverted.

If you are wondering why so many ComfortDelGro cabs are there, blue cars were deemed necessary to contrast with the red coloured theme of the character’s tie and car. Handy to have blue cabs here.

Gardens By The Bay

The producers were so impressed by Gardens... — which they nicknamed the Armadillos — that they created a scene so that the domes could be featured.

The OCBC Skywalk at the Supertrees saw a meeting between Hannah Ware and Ciaran Hind. More actors may have been involved if the Skywalk's weight limitations did not mean a limited number of cast and crew could go up the 22-metre bridge.

ITE College Central

If this seems an unlikely choice, don't forget. This College has its own aircraft hangar. Huge turbines and fireballs? That's all shot at the Ang Mo Kio school’s aerospace building.

Chinatown

Let's face it, while a lot of Hitman is filmed in gleaming, modern locations, any film shot in South East Asia is going to have to have something old-school.

About 90 stores were involved on the day of filming.

Marina Barrage

The scenes shot here feature Angelababy and it was the first time a car was permitted to be on its jogging track. If you would like to do the same, first bring a multi-million dollar film production with you.

Changi Airport

The worlds best airport (fact!) makes an appearance.  A section of Terminal 3 was closed just for filming. You might notice in the film that the baggage carousel is Belt 47 — which was apparently coincidental.

The 520 crew and cast members took 3 hours to clear the security checks.

PARKROYAL on Pickering

The hotel was not just a backdrop for some scenes, it provided the control centre for the film with rooms converted into meeting spaces, make-up studios and hospitality suites.

Filming also took place at the hotel’s infinity pool with its iconic cabanas.

Ciaran Hinds (Mance Rayder in Game of Thrones, Aberforth Dumbledore in the Harry Potter films) left a handwritten note saying: “not a note out of tune, as they say.”

And now you can win a 2D1N stay at this very hotel by answering a very simple question...
