You may not recognise them at first.

But look closer at Maya Thurman-Hawke, Lily-Rose Depp, Brandon Lee and Frances Bean Cobain, and you will see the family resemblance - or at least the familiar last names.

Perhaps last remembered as kids in the arms of their famous parents, this latest generation of celebrity offspring are all grown-up and turning heads at recent red carpet events.

Her parents have kept her out of the industry, with her only "acting" credit in an episode of Celebrities Uncensored from 2003, when she was five years old.

She has accompanied her folks to a movie premiere or two but the teen finally made her first solo appearance at the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Fashion Awards.

Looking like a movie star in the making, she was on the arm of Zac Posen, the designer of her floral embroidered tulle gown. Posen posted on Instagram several pictures of Maya posing, captioning one "my gorgeous date tonight".

According to Variety, she has also caught the eye of director Sofia Coppola, who reportedly dropped out of the live action The Little Mermaid movie because the movie studio wouldn't let her pick acting newbie Maya as her leading lady.

Another one to watch is fashionista Lily-Rose, who boasts a cultish Internet following and looks set to become a triple threat just like her mum.

In 2000, she made her recording debut on Paradis' album Bliss, where she was featured on one track.

After the Chanel show, which saw her accompany Chanel muse Paradis, Lily-Rose landed a modelling gig in Oyster. The Australian magazine raved how she "has the face of an angel and a magnetic presence beyond her young years".

She also acted in director Kevin Smith's 2014 indie horror-comedy Tusk and its spin-off Yoga Hosers, due to be released this year.

BRANDON LEE, 19

Brandon was out of the spotlight for most of his life - until he went to the premiere with mum and caused a stir online.

She said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that with him, "the phone doesn't stop ringing". She added: "He doesn't need any more confidence! He got a lot of attention over that."

Lee and Anderson divorced in 1998 after four years of marriage. They have another son Dylan, 17.

But it is not just her son's good looks that Anderson is proud of. She said Brandon recently finished high school and will be moving on to university.

"I'm really fortunate because it could have been a disaster. My boys are genetically loaded. They're such gentlemen, they're good to their girlfriends and they spoil everybody rotten. They also spoil me rotten!"

FRANCES BEAN COBAIN, 22

She ventured into modelling in 2006 for Elle magazine's feature on children of rock stars in their parents' clothing and reportedly turned down the titular role in Tim Burton's 2010 fantasy flick Alice In Wonderland. She pursued a career as a visual artist instead.

A few months back, Frances - who favours all-black ensembles and goth make-up - made a rare public appearance with Love (above) at the premiere of the HBO documentary based on the life of Nirvana frontman Cobain.

He had struggled with drugs and depression, and committed suicide at the age of 27 in 1994. Frances was only 20 months old at the time.

Frances, who is an executive producer of Kurt Cobain: Montage Of Heck, is not a fan of her dad's music.

She told Rolling Stone magazine: "I don't really like Nirvana that much. I'm more into Mercury Rev, Oasis, Brian Jonestown Massacre. The grunge scene is not what I'm interested in. (But) Dumb - I cry every time I hear that song. It's a stripped-down version of Kurt's perception of himself - on drugs, off drugs, inadequate to be the voice of a generation."
