Ed Sheeran to go medieval for new TV show
Ed Sheeran will be ditching his guitar in favour of a sword for an upcoming TV show.
The British singer-songwriter has been cast as a recurring character in FX's The Bastard Executioner, a series that has been described as a "blood-soaked medieval epic".
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 24-year-old's character, Sir Cormac is an "ambitious and deadly protégé of a high-ranking church elder".
This isn't the first time that Sheeran will be working with the show's creator Kevin Sutter.
The Grammy nominee contributed to the soundtrack of the final season of Sutter's biker drama Sons of Anarchy.
The Bastard Executioner is no Game of Thrones but it's about as close as Sheeran will get.
In an earlier interview with The Sun, Sheeran, who is a Game of Thrones fan, revealed that plans for him to make a guest appearance on the show had fallen through due to his busy touring schedule but admitted that "it could have been cool".
