Emotional Gomez picks up AMA win

Selena Gomez was indeed the favourite woman at the 2016 American Music Awards (AMAs).

The 24-year-old made a surprise appearance after a self-imposed break from showbiz to focus on her health after she was discovered to be suffering from lupus.

She stunned in a simple yet elegant red Prada gown. But it was her acceptance speech after she was named Favourite Female Artist that won her thunderous applause.

"I don't want to see your bodies on Instagram. I want to see what's in here," Gomez said, pointing to her heart.

"I'm not trying to get validation, nor do I need it any more."

She added, her voice shaking as she clutched her trophy: "I have to say thank you so much to my fans, because you guys are so loyal, and I don't know what I did to deserve you.

"But if you are broken, you do not have to stay broken. That's one thing you should know about me: I care about people. And this is for you."

Lady Gaga apparently broke down in tears after the speech, reported E! News.

Both Ariana Grande and Niall Horan also gave Gomez big hugs and words of encouragement.

Model Bella Hadid working on her catwalk smile

Model Bella Hadid, who's one of the Angels for the upcoming Victoria's Secret (VS) Fashion Show, has another worry apart from her walk.

The 20-year-old, a regular at high-end fashion shows, is working to get rid of her "blank stare model face".

She spoke to People magazine about the VS show on Dec 5: "It's about personality. It's about the lingerie, but you also have to keep a smile on your face. You have to interact. It's a different experience than I am really used to."

She added: "I am not a very good smiler on cue. I have to practice that a lot."

Working on her million dollar smile, she placed a big mirror on her roommate's door in their apartment to practice her walk at the same time.

Kanye West angers fans by cancelling LA gig

Crazy Kanye West is out and about again.

The notoriously outspoken rapper, 39, cancelled a concert in Los Angeles on Sunday - three hours before the show was to begin.

The show was meant to be a make-up gig for fans who attended the rapper's Nov 3 concert that was cut short due to vocal issues.

The cancellation came a day after he went on an unexpected rant about Jay-Z, Beyonce, President-elect Donald Trump, the radio industry and the press at a tour stop in Sacramento.

West took to the stage about 90 minutes late and proceeded to perform four songs before launching into a rant about the superstar couple.

"Beyoncé, I was hurt, because I heard that you said you wouldn't perform unless you won Video of the Year over me and over Hotline Bling," said West.

His expletive-filled tirade clearly didn't sit well with the concert-goers who vented their frustration on social media.
