Getting a new pair of Levi’s jeans each to wear for shoots and appearances has made The New Paper New Face 2012 finalists very happy.

There were squeals of excitement when the girls got to choose them at the Levi’s Lady’s store at 313@somerset recently.

Audrey Lange, 21, in particular, was really happy because she “hasn’t owned any branded jeans at all”. The communications and media studies undergraduate at Murdoch University at Kaplan said with a laugh: “I’m cheap that way.

“I don’t like spending money on expensive items when I can get cheaper alternatives.”

This was also Wynne Peh’s first pair of Levi’s jeans.

“I found it really comfortable,” said the 23-year-old public relations and media communications undergraduate at Murdoch University.

“The fabric looks rugged and tough, so I was shocked by how soft it feels!”

The New Paper New Face, celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, is presented by Subaru MotorImage and co-sponsored by Clinique and Levi’s.

But for 15-year-old Jessica Vetters, this is definitely not her first time getting branded jeans.

She admitted nervously: “I love them and I wear them pretty much all the time.

“I also collect jeans from a few brands, Levi’s being one of them.”

The student from the German European School Singapore appreciates Levi’s Curve ID, a range based on body type and not just waist size.

“I think it’s good because everyone has different body shapes, and the jeans fit their hips and waists differently,” she said.

And that certainly seemed to be the case because some girls had a few issues while choosing the right jeans.

Freelance model Nathasha Rahmat, 21, said: “I found the right size, but the fit wasn’t right. The area around the thighs was baggy and other jeans I tried were either too big or too short.”

But in the end, she found the perfect pair.

The selection process took about an hour as the girls wandered around the store and browsed through the designs.
Wynne posed in front of the mirrors, occasionally asking the rest if the jeans she was wearing were suitable.

She said: “I took around 30 minutes to find my pair and ultimately I picked the one that I first spotted.

“I like the grey one because it’s different from the usual blue jeans. It fits nicely and the texture is great.
“The Curve ID also contours the body better.”

Audrey also took some time to pick her ideal pair of jeans because she has “muscular legs” and it is hard to find jeans that do not make her look “chunky”.

She confessed sheepishly: “I tried close to 12 pairs! I was there the earliest and was the last to find my jeans, I think.

“But they were perfect. The fit and length were perfect and the bottom was tapered to fit my ankle nicely.

“I’m very happy with this pair of jeans.”
