$1,000 TNP Bonus Challenge winner: I'll spend on wife, kids
His wife's birthday is just over two weeks away, on Dec 29.
So it was a nice surprise for Mr Tan Sua Tee, 52, who won The New Paper Bonus Challenge Jackpot prize of $1,000 in cash yesterday.
Mr Tan, a tow truck driver, said: "We go for dinners at mid-range restaurants about once a month.
"With this money, we can go to a nicer place together."
He also plans to buy an Xbox console for his two children so they can play games together.
Mr Tan was not the only winner last night. Three other readers each won a $100 cash prize.
One of them, Mr Thomas Chia, 73, said he had bought five copies of TNP on Monday to increase his chances of winning in the challenge.
The retiree, who will be celebrating his birthday on Dec 30, said winning the $100 in cash is a nice present.
Another winner, Miss Nadia Sianny, 49, will be splurging on her nephews and nieces with her winnings.
"I will take the younger kids, about eight of them, for a meal," said the babysitter.
The third $100 winner was forklift driver Muhammad Faizal Said, 25, who intends to spend the money on his two daughters, aged one and two.
"I can use it to buy milk powder and diapers for them," he said.
HOW TO PLAY
Every week until Dec 21, Monday's TNP will come with a Bonus Challenge Card.
Match the numbers on the card against six daily digits printed in TNP from Tuesday to Sunday.
Complete any vertical row of numbers and claim your prize on that row by answering a simple question on the spot.
Answers to these questions can be found in TNP together with the day's numbers. Other prizes up for grabs include an iPad Mini 3 and a Mini folding bike.
With last night's win, the daily jackpot prize is now back at $1,000.
