About the accident

An accident involving nine vehicles on the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) on Thursday morning killed a motorcyclist and injured another, a police spokesman said yesterday.

The police were alerted at 6.45am about a lorry-motorcycle collision on the PIE heading towards Changi Airport, after Toh Guan Road.

This was believed to have sparked off two other accidents involving seven vehicles.

Two ambulances were sent to the scene, a Singapore Civil Defence Force spokesman said.

One motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, was taken to the National University Hospital, the spokesman said.

Another motorcyclist, a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.

Investigations are ongoing.
