A Texas babysitter was arrested for setting fire to a house because the children "lacked respect".

ABC reported that Martha Dreher, 57, pleaded not guilty to arson charges on Saturday.

Dreher, who allegedly set fire to the house on Aug 9, had been babysitting Glenn Williams’ children in Austin for several months. On that night, she was babysitting Williams' 5-year-old twin sons at their mother's house. The two pre-teen daughters were on vacation with their father, according to the American-Statesman.

Police said Dreher told them she was at the house at 9pm to get some popcorn.  The fire started 25 minutes later and grew worse as she drove away.

Dreher allegedly told cops she “never saw a fire.”

KVUE news reported that Williams' teenage son Adam noticed the fire when he came home that night. He also mentioned the bedroom door to the girls’ rooms were locked as if to contain the fire to those rooms.

“It was definitely a vendetta against the two girls," the children’s father told KVUE.

“Before I left, she had taken the girls clothes shopping, and she said that it was horrible, that my oldest had been very disrespectful to her and she didn't think it was a good match and she probably didn't want to do this anymore."

Dreher claimed the girls are “out of control, lacking respect for her and having disciplines issues,” according to documents obtained by The Statesman.
