Boy, 5, calls out for sister during fatal fall

A five-year-old boy screamed for his older sister as he plummeted to his death from the sixth floor of a Petaling Jaya flat.

Nur Diana Alden, 15, returned from school on Wednesday afternoon only to discover that her youngest brother Muhammad Zul Hazriq Danish Alden lying prone and bleeding on the first floor of their block.

"I could see that his chest was still heaving," recalled the Form Three student.

"The ambulance had not arrived yet. But they wouldn’t let me get near him."

Zul died from his injuries.

The boy is believed to have fallen through a gap in a railing on the sixth storey of the People's Housing Project flat while playing with his friends in the afternoon.

Witnesses said the boy called out Diana's name as he fell.

Malaysia's Women, Family and Community Development Minister Rohani Abdul Karim visited the family and offered them counselling as well as a cash donation.

Zul's death is not an isolated incident as the flat's residents association chairman Johari Nander said that another five-year-old died after falling 14 storeys through a gap in the railings from a different block in 2014.
