Caught off S'pore: What's this? An 'alien' sea creature?

This article is more than 12 months old

It's a fish. It's a plant. Or is it an unidentified sea monster?

An angler reeled in a mystery catch off the eastern coast of Singapore. He had caught the creature between Changi and Ubin, he said.

Ramlan, who goes by the Facebook moniker JR Saimuploaded the video on Sept 28.

The post went viral.

The creature had many moving tentacles and seemed like something straight out of a science fiction movie, New York Post reported. (Scroll to the end to find out the creature's identity)

Do you know what this is?

It turns out the strange creature is a relative of the common starfish.

Experts said it typically lives deep in the ocean - as deep as 2,000 metres below the surface, stomp reported.

The five arms split into many "branchlets", Ramlan said.

Know what it is?
