CHANGES TO BE MADE
The Applied Study in Polytechnics and ITE Review (Aspire) committee proposed several recommendations to improve the career prospects of poly and ITE graduates.
Their recommendations include:
1. Stronger career guidance
2. Longer internships for certain polytechnic courses
3. Place-and-train programmes for selected industries
4. Post graduation skills upgrading.
The committee acknowledged that the polytechnic and ITE systems have been successful in helping students to develop themselves and fulfil their potential. But the system needs to adapt to meet demands of the future and student aspirations.
