Dad runs over and kills girl, 3, in Raya tragedy
It was supposed to be a time for celebrating, marked by forgiveness, fellowship and food.
But a family in Sabah was left in tears on Hari Raya Aidilfitri, after one of their own died under tragic circumstances.
A man was reparking his four-wheel-drive vehicle at a relative’s house during an Aidilfitri visit last night when he accidentally ran over and killed his three-year-old daughter, police said.
The tragedy happened at about 10.30 pm, said Sandakan Police chief ACP Zabidi Md Zain.
Mutia Noraini Ayup had gone with her three siblings and parents to visit an uncle.
Ran over own daughter
Her 38-year-old father was reparking the vehicle after dropping off the family when he realised he had run over something, newspaper Star Online reported, citing Bernama.
His wife's screams added to his misgivings.
The family rushed the girl to the Duchess of Kent Hospital after the incident but it was too late.
She had died of severe head injuries by the time they reached the hospital, the police chief said.
