CNN correspondent Arwa Damon has apologised for biting two paramedics at the US Embassy in Baghdad while intoxicated, according to the New York Post on Monday.

CNN said Monday that it is "not aware" of the lawsuit.

According to The Post, Damon claimed she does not remember anything but acknowledged her "disastrous behavior" in an e-mail to embassy staff and apologised after she was informed of what she had done. She was on an assignment in Baghdad and was too busy to have a meal before drinking.

"It’s been an extremely stressful time, I was exhausted, I had not had proper food all day and clearly miscalculated how my body would handle the alcohol consumed. Needless to say, I am utterly mortified and take full responsibility for my actions, which are inexcusable," Damon wrote in the email according to The Post.
