Off-duty medic saves jogger's life
He was not wearing his paramedic uniform, but that did not stop Warrant Officer Shahid Ahmad Mohamed from leaping to the assistance of a male jogger who collapsed at 1 Woodlands Drive 64 on Tuesday morning.
The paramedic from Ang Mo Kio Fire Station was on his way to work at about 8am. He attempted to resuscitate the middle-aged jogger, who had no pulse and was not breathing.
He assessed the man, who had suffered a cardiac arrest, and administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation on him, said the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) on its Facebook page yesterday.
While he was doing so, an ambulance was on its way. The SCDF said that the jogger, who is in hospital, wants to meet the paramedics to show appreciation for their help.
