This article is more than 12 months old

A fire broke out on a field at the junction of Fourth Chin Bee Road and Corporation Road in Jurong at about 11.30am yesterday.

Service engineer Andrew Tan, 45, told The New Paper that he was driving past the field when he saw the fire under a tree.

Mr Tan then got out of his car to try and put out the fire.

"It was really hot standing close to the fire, but luckily the wind was not blowing against me so I did not get burned," he said.

He said that another man, known as Mr Ho, who worked at the nearby Jurong Stadium, brought a bucket of water to the scene.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force said a call was received at 11.38am, and two motorbikes and a fire engine were sent to the area. The blaze was put out with a water jet.
