A five-year-old kidnapping victim has been rescued after being found in Port Dickson.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar tweeted on Saturday that the victim was rescued by the Special Task Force on Organised Crime (Stafoc) and Selangor's criminal investigation department in Port Dickson, Negri Sembilan.

"The victim was found locked up in Port Dickson," he said.

The victim was "safe", he added.

Five suspects were also arrested in connection with the kidnapping.

When contacted, the five-year-old's uncle who declined to be identified said the family could finally breathe a sigh of relief.

"We were informed by the police around midnight and at the moment, the victim is undergoing medical evaluation and treatment at a hospital.

"After eight days of agony and sleepless nights, all of us - especially my brother and sister-in-law - are able to breathe a sigh of relief.

"We thank the police for assisting us in this matter," he said in a phone call.
