Friends and family attend Mr Lee Kuan Yew's wake at Istana

A private family wake for Mr Lee Kuan Yew was held on Monday (March 23) at Sri Temasek at Istana.

It was open only to family members, friends and staff.

The wake will be held until Tuesday (March 24), after which Mr Lee’s body will lie in state at Parliament House until Saturday (March 28) for the public to pay their respects.

Channel NewsAsia reported that about 1,200 people visited Sri Temasek on Monday.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his wife Ho Ching received them.

The police said a 50-year-old female car driver is assisting with investigations.
