Man loses control of car while driving family to Perak for CNY
What started out as a road trip to Perak to celebrate Chinese New Year ended in tragedy for a family of five on Wednesday.
They were travelling on the North-South Highway in Malaysia when the 43-year-old father apparently lost control of the Singapore-registered Honda Stream he was driving.
CASUALTIES
It crashed near Yong Peng in Johor at around 1.30pm and his 13-year-old daughter was killed.
The father, his two sons and a 20-year-old daughter, survived the accident with minor injuries.
Responding to queries from The New Paper, Inspector Mursyidah Abdul Malik from Muar police headquarters' traffic division said all five people in the car were Malaysians.
The father and the two sons, aged 21 and 19, work in Singapore.
His wife and their two daughters live in Johor Baru. The wife could not join them for the trip to Perak as she only had a day off from work, said Inspector Mursyidah.
She also told TNP that the survivors were taken to a hospital and were discharged on Wednesday night.
One hundred people died following 7,691 accidents on Malaysian roads between Tuesday and Wednesday, myMetro reported.
