Girl, 3, killed by stray bullet while her hair was being braided

A three-year-old girl was sitting on the front porch of a house when a stray bullet hit her in the chest, killing her.

Tynirah Borum had been dropped off at a friend's house on Etting Street in Philadelphia​'s Grays Ferry neighbourhood to get her hair done.

The little girl was having her hair braided by a family friend when Douglas Woods and his accomplice began arguing with another man on the street around 9.40pm on Friday.

Woods, 22, pulled out a gun and fired a few shotsThe 24-year-old man he was arguing with took a bullet to the head, reported CBS Philly. 

Mirror reported police captain Michael​ Gormley as saying: "One of the shots struck the male in the head. There were also two bystanders in the area that were struck with graze wounds in the arm."

"Additionally there was a three-year-old girl sitting on the porch that was struck with a round," he said.

Arrest

Woods fled the scene on a bicycle but was later arrested, reported The Daily Beast. His accomplice in still at large.

Woods faces multiple charges, including murder, three counts of attempted murder and aggravated assault, reported NBC Philadelphia​.

Tynirah's mother was inconsolable.

She said: "She was a beautiful little girl, just full of life, knew everybody around the neighbourhood, run up to somebody she doesn’t even know and give them a big hug."
