Girl Scout, nine, shot while selling cookies

This article is more than 12 months old

The nine-year-old and a younger sister left her apartment in Indianapolis on Tuesday to pick up cookies to sell.

Witnesses said a car pulled up and somebody from inside the vehicle began shooting at the complex, Huffington Post reported

“I heard three gunshots and then one of them hit me in the leg,” Sinai Miller told CBS4.

Her mother was inside the door, putting a jacket on another little sister who was going to join them, when she heard the shots and brought the kids back inside, the Indianapolis Star reported.

That’s when Sinai started crying in pain.

Said her mother Shanita Miller: “She came in screaming ‘mummy mummy. It hurt. It hurt.’ And I’m like what hurt? What’s wrong?

“So when I pulled her pant leg up, that’s when I discovered she was shot.”

Luckily for the kid, the bullet exited her calf and missed bone and artery.

Sinai is now recovering, reports said.
