He pays price for robbing cop's neighbour

This burglar must be cursing his luck - after he broke into a house as an off-duty policeman watched.

Corporal Che Zamila Che, 38, was smoking outside his Petaling Jaya home on Friday afternoon when he saw a burly man on a motorcycle riding past.

The man was looking into the houses before stopping in front of his neighbour’s place.

Initially, the Shah Alam-based cop thought the biker was his neighbour’s friend.

But when the man carried a bag towards the iron grille door, he realised something was fishy.

He said:

“I ran into the house, pointed the gun to his back and shouted ‘Baring!’ (lie down).”

He pinned the man to the ground, then handcuffed him.

A search revealed screwdrivers, a bunch of keys and a metal rod inside the man's bag.

Referring to the spate of  break-ins and robberies in the neighbourhood, Cpl Che Zamila added:

“My neighbours always say they call the police but they arrive too late. Even when I called for help, they only came about 30 minutes later.

"As a policeman, I get upset when I hear this happening to my neighbours."

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Azmi Abu Kassim said the suspect was just released from prison for committing a robbery.

He faces up to two years jail for the latest attempted crime.
