Internet troll jailed for vile Facebook comment
Spanish teacher Ann Maguire was stabbed to death in a classroom by a 15-year-old on April 28.
But the tragedy in the UK was compounded by Jake Newsome's disgusting Facebook message.
The 21-year-old wrote: "I'm glad that teacher got stabbed. Feel sorry for the kid. He should have p***** on her too."
His comments on May 1 was met with anger and disbelief.
"A comment was posted saying, 'That's not very nice', to which the defendant (Newsome) replied, 'I think it is'," reported Mail Online.
Newsome was arrested soon after. On Wednesday, he was jailed for six weeks.
Abusing freedom
The Mirror reported that during sentencing District Judge David Kitson said: "You're entitled to express reasonable views, as are all of us. What none of us are entitled to do is abuse that freedom.
"What I find particularly offensive - that must have caused distress to all those who knew Mrs Maguire - were the derogatory remarks made...I can think of little more that can be upsetting or offensive."
Judge Kitson added: "You clearly came from a troubled background. But this is so serious that nothing more than custodial sentence can suffice."
