It wasn't deliberate, says lawyer for woman accused of trying to murder lesbian ex-lover
The defence lawyer of a woman accused of trying to kill her former lesbian lover suggested to the victim on Thursday it wasn't a deliberate attempt on her life.
Giselle Shi Jia Wei, 25, is accused of trying to murder Miss Ummul Qurratu 'Ain Abdul Rahman, 22, in a Geylang hotel on July 22, 2012.
Shi's lawyer, Mr Jayakumar Naidu, suggested to Miss Ummul that Shi had tried to commit suicide and in stopping her, Miss Ummul was stabbed twice.
Video footage of a naked Miss Ummul escaping from the room after the alleged attack was shown in the High Court on Thursday.
But due to the graphic nature of the clip, members of the public and the media had to leave the courtroom before it was played.
