Jakarta's most notorious nightclub shut

It is considered one of the notorious nightclubs in Jakarta.

The Indonesian capital’s acting governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, has ordered Stadium to be closed down following the drug-related death of a police officer on Friday.

“This is outrageous,” Mr Basuki said. “We warned them we would shut them down if they were caught for a second time. They were caught and they said it was only one time — that is disrespectful. Now we have really got them.”

Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Cmr. Rikwanto said the police officer from South Minahasa, North Sulawesi, died after visiting Stadium on Friday afternoon, Jakarta Globe reported.

Mr Jicky Vay Gumerung, 22, died in a hospital in West Jakarta and an autopsy found ecstasy and methamphetamine in his system.

The three other police officers who were with him in the club also allegedly tested positive for drugs, newsportal Tempo.co reported.

The internationally known West Jakarta club has long been infamous for rampant drug use and prostitution. it mostly plays trance music.
