Johor to restrict 5 types of fish to S'pore this CNY. Here's why
Singaporeans, take note: Fresh catch from Malaysia will be limited this Chinese New Year.
That's because Johor state is restricting the export of five types of fish to Singapore during the festive period.
Johor Agriculture and Agro-Based Industries exco Ismail Mohamed said the move will ensure there's an adequate supply of these fishes in the state, reported Star Online.
He said:
“We also want to be sure that the price of the controlled items will not go up as a result of a low supply during the festive season.”
He added that they would be working with the Immigration Department to ensure that enforcement is carried out at the checkpoints.
