Look what eatery staff did for widow
It's a heartwarming tradition. The husband and wife would spend their wedding anniversary at a local Red Lobster seafood restaurant. All 31 years, in fact.
Then the man died. His daughter took the mother out for dinner on their anniversary.
They got the bill. Only, it was a note from the staff, saying the meal was on the house.
Touched by the gesture, her family posted the note online on Wednesday. It went viral.
According to the comments on the post, the family had no idea about the servers' plans.
The waitress had asked if there was a special occasion.
"My sister explained that my parents had been going there every year for their anniversary." the unidentified family member said. "The waitress then asked why my dad wasn’t there and they explained how he had passed away in March.
"She said she was sorry to hear that and then it was just a normal meal like any other after that. Until they got the bill.”
See you next year
A spokesman from Red Lobster told BuzzFeed the heartwarming moment did actually happen in a Missouri location.
“We’re truly proud of the Columbia team,” the Red Lobster rep said.
“We also extend our wishes to the family who dined with us and look forward to serving them again next year!”
