Lookalike porcelain dolls left on girls' doorsteps

Now, here's the start of a potential horror movie plot.

Police are investigating an absurdly creepy case in California, where porcelain dolls are being left on the doorsteps of girls they bear a resemblance to.

The dolls have been left on doorsteps of eight girls - all aged around 10.

Families began filing police reports about these dolls last month, but no light has been shed on who exactly is leaving them.

Lieutenant Jeff Hallock from the Orange County Sheriff's Department said that they're trying to figure out if there is a correlation between the different families and the girl and if the dolls were homemade or bought at a local retailer.

While it may seem disturbing, police see no foul play.

"At this point, we don't have a specific crime," said Hallock. "It's very suspicious activity and we're following up on it."
