This article is more than 12 months old

He was having drinks with friends at a restaurant in Shah Alam, Malaysia.

But  Danny Lechumiah, 26, never made it home.

He died from severe stab wounds - after a group of parang-wielding attackers set on him.

The victim was reportedly having drinks with four other friends at about 6am yesterday (Jan 21) when an unknown number of assailants approached them.

Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Azisman Alias said Danny’s group started to run at the sight of the attackers.

But they only went for the 26-year-old, slashing and stabbing him in the street.

ACP Azisman said:

“A patrol team rushed to the scene where they found Danny’s body in a pool of blood. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim had suffered deep stab wounds to the back of his head and back, while his right thigh was slashed five times."

The victim's arms were also mutilated.

Initial investigations led police to believe the motive for the murder could be revenge, with officers recording statements from the victim’s four friends.

Police said the victim had previously been charged with possessing a dangerous weapon in public.
